Why families choose Sentinel for estate planning
The 98% a lawyer does not handle
We focus on accounts, insurance policies, titling and ownership structures, then work with your attorney on the legal documents.
One coordinated plan
Your investments, income, taxes and estate documents are reviewed together so the pieces line up instead of working against each other.
Tax-aware wealth transfer
We look at Roth conversions, withdrawal sequencing, Qualified Charitable Distributions and tax-efficient gifting under current IRS rules.
Fewer surprises for your heirs
Reviewing beneficiary designations and ownership structures is intended to reduce probate exposure and public disclosure.
Legacy, not just assets
We help you set guardrails, educate heirs and design staged inheritance so your values carry forward with the money.
Deep family experience
25 years working with families with special needs and a team well versed in the financial complexities of divorce.
What estate planning with Sentinel covers
Estate planning for larger estates is rarely one document. It is a set of decisions about how each account is titled, who is named on it, and how money moves between your taxable, tax-deferred and tax-free buckets over time.
Our advisors review those details for consistency, build a transfer strategy around them, and coordinate with your estate attorney when a trust or other instrument is the right tool. The goal is an orderly transfer on your terms.
- Account titling and ownership structure review
- Beneficiary designations across retirement and insurance accounts
- Wills and trusts reviewed for consistency and alignment
- Trust design and review alongside your estate attorney
- Organizing assets across the three U.S. tax categories
- Roth conversions, tax-loss harvesting and withdrawal sequencing
- Qualified Charitable Distributions and tax-efficient gifting models
- Staged inheritance structures and multi-generational trusts
- Heir education, including a supervised pilot pool of assets
- Strategies intended to reduce probate and court involvement

Frequently asked questions
Do you draft wills and trusts?
No. Attorneys draft the legal documents. We handle the financial side of estate planning, accounts, insurance, titling and ownership structures, and we work alongside your estate attorney when trusts or complex instruments are appropriate.
What does estate planning cost?
Pricing depends on the size and complexity of your estate and which services you use. We explain the fee structure clearly in your first conversation before you commit to anything.
Do I need a certain level of assets to work with you?
There is no figure published here. Tell us about your estate in the form and we will be direct about whether our services fit your situation.
Where do you work with clients?
We serve clients in Connecticut, Maryland, Florida, Massachusetts, Maine, North Carolina, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island, with offices in Bethesda and Rockville, MD and Fairfield, Middletown and West Haven, CT.
Can you help with a child or dependent who needs lifelong care?
Yes. We have 25 years of experience with families with special needs and have supported 20+ families long term, coordinating with attorneys and care planners when required.
Will you work with my current attorney and CPA?
Yes. We do not prepare tax returns or draft legal documents. We coordinate with the professionals you already trust so the plan holds together.
