PVD coating for stainless steel and other production parts
PVD stands for physical vapor deposition. We run magnetron sputtering, reactive arc and RF processes, so the coating is built up in a vacuum chamber. That is what makes it harder and more wear resistant than a plated finish.
Our engineers brought PVD in-house in the 1980s with titanium nitride and sputtered metals. Today PVD sits alongside our plating and vacuum metallizing lines, so we can match a look across metal and plastic parts in the same product.

What does PVD coating cost?
We do not publish prices. Cost depends on the part size and shape, the coating you need, masking, and your yearly volume. Send those details and we will quote your part.
Can you PVD coat stainless steel parts?
We finish both metal and plastic components, and sputtered stainless steel is one of the coatings we deposit. Tell us the substrate and the performance you need, and we will confirm the right process.
Is there a minimum order?
We do not publish a minimum. We are comfortable with moderate volumes as well as super high volumes, with capacity for over a million parts a week. Most work runs as an annual program against forecast volumes.
Do you work with companies outside Rhode Island?
Yes. We serve manufacturers across the United States from our plant in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, and are positioned as a domestic source rather than an overseas one.
How fast can we get from sample to production?
Because tooling and masking are designed and built in-house, we move from sampling to production in half the normal lead times. Actual timing depends on your part, and the quote will spell it out.
Do you coat one-off or personal items?
No. We are a production contract finisher. We do not take hobby jobs, single-item polishing, restoration work or replating of personal jewelry.
