PVD Coating for Jewelry Manufacturers
PVD Coating for Jewelry, Run at Production Volume
We apply PVD coatings - TiN, ZrN and TiCN - to jewelry and decorative parts for manufacturers and brands. Jewelry-grade finishes, made in Rhode Island.
- TiN, ZrN and TiCN by sputtering, reactive arc and RF
- Harder and more wear resistant than traditional plating
- US source for production runs, not single personal pieces
Finishing parts since 1951. Over 100 million finished parts delivered every year.

Why manufacturers send PVD work here
Jewelry-grade finish at scale
We started in 1951 finishing costume jewelry. That same eye for detail now runs across millions of parts.
Coatings built to take wear
PVD gives far more hardness and wear resistance than plating, so the finish survives handling and use.
The same finish, run after run
We qualify your finish against a match sample, then hold it batch to batch, year after year.
Tooling and masking in house
We design and build custom tooling and masking ourselves, so parts move from sampling to production fast.
Free sampling on most work
Send your part and target finish. We sample most applications free so you can see it before you commit.
A US domestic source
All work runs from our Pawtucket, Rhode Island plant, 24 hours a day, 5 days a week, for customers nationwide.
PVD coating for jewelry and decorative parts
Providence Metallizing pioneered hi-tech PVD methods in the 1980s, including Titanium Nitride and sputtered metals. Today we use magnetron sputtering, reactive arc and RF deposition to put TiN, ZrN and TiCN coatings on decorative and functional parts. PVD is the right pick when a finish has to survive contact, rubbing and a tough service life instead of sitting on a shelf.
If plating suits your part better, we run one of the most consistent plating lines in the industry, with over 30 finishes on plastic and metal. Because we do both, we can match the look across plastic and metal parts in the same piece. This is production work: we price programs against forecast volumes, not one-off personal items.
- PVD processes: magnetron sputtering, reactive arc deposition and RF
- PVD coatings: Titanium Nitride (TiN), Zirconium Nitride (ZrN), Titanium Carbo Nitride (TiCN)
- Sputtered copper, stainless steel and aluminum coatings
- Over 30 electroplated finishes: gold, silver, white bronze, chrome, hematite, antique, satin nickel, brushed stainless
- Matched finishes across cast metal and molded plastic parts in the same assembly
- Automatic high polishing and satin polishing at production scale
- Custom tooling and masking designed and built in house
- In-house lab controls processes, testing protocols and certifications
- Capacity of over a million parts per week across more than 20 simultaneous jobs
Built on 75 years of finishing
“We had been worried about the finish and considered various methods before deciding to go with PMC. In the end we only made one mistake: we didn't order enough pieces because the item sold out in less than a month!”
“Very friendly and helpful”
What happens after you send the form
We review your part
Tell us the substrate, the finish you want and your volume. Our engineers check the fit and ask anything they need.
We sample your finish
Free sampling is offered on most applications. You approve a match sample before anything runs in production.
We build the program
Tooling and masking are made in house, then your parts run against your forecast with the finish held constant.
Frequently asked questions
Do you PVD coat personal jewelry or replate rings?
No. We are a contract manufacturer for businesses. We do not take consumer one-off jobs, replating of personal jewelry, or restoration of used items. Our work is production runs for manufacturers and brand owners.
Which PVD coatings can you apply?
Titanium Nitride (TiN), Zirconium Nitride (ZrN) and Titanium Carbo Nitride (TiCN), plus sputtered copper, stainless steel and aluminum. We apply them by magnetron sputtering, reactive arc and RF processes.
How is PVD different from plating?
PVD gives substantially greater hardness and wear resistance than traditional electroplating, so it is specified where a finish must survive contact and abrasion. Where plating fits better, we offer over 30 electroplated finishes, including gold, silver, chrome, hematite and antique treatments.
What does PVD coating cost, and is there a minimum?
Pricing depends on the part, the finish, the tooling and your forecast volume, so we quote each program individually. Send your part details and yearly quantity and we will come back with the specifics.
Can I see the finish before I commit?
Yes. We offer free sampling for most applications. We qualify the finish against a submitted match sample, then hold it constant across the program.
Where are you located and who do you ship to?
We finish in Pawtucket, Rhode Island and serve customers across the United States. We are positioned as a US domestic finishing source, not an offshore one.
