What the step height standard does
A step height standard carries step features of a known height. You scan it, compare the measured height to the reference, and adjust your AFM so your Z-axis data is right. It is a simple way to prove your instrument is still in spec before important measurements.
We also supply lateral references, so you can cover both axes. Our AFM calibration sample uses a 500 nm periodic grating for X-Y checks, and dopant and capacitance standards are available for scanning capacitance and scanning microwave microscopy.
