Liquid cells, fluid kits and accessories
A liquid cell holds your sample and its medium so the AFM tip can scan while everything stays wet. We make cells for aqueous buffers and for harsher media, including acid, base and organic solvents when used with compatible PicoPlus systems.
If your sample does not fit a standard cell, we build custom liquid and electrochemistry cells from the same modular platform used in our 5500 PicoPlus, 5420 PicoAFM and 4500 PicoSTM systems.

How much does an AFM liquid cell cost?
Pricing is available on request. Cost depends on the cell type and whether you need a stock or custom design, so we quote after we know your sample and system.
Will a liquid cell fit my AFM?
Our cells are made for Molecular Imaging and Agilent AFM and STM systems, including the 5500, 5420 and 4500 platforms. Tell us your model and we will confirm fit before you order.
Can you make a cell for an odd sample shape?
Yes. We build custom AFM and STM liquid and electrochemistry cells, including designs for fibers, contact lenses, and small or large metal beads.
Can I exchange liquid during imaging?
Yes. Flow-through cells in 9 mm and 18 mm allow continuous liquid or buffer exchange while you scan, which suits reaction monitoring and in-situ electrochemistry.
Do you have cells for aggressive chemicals?
The PTFE liquid cell uses chemically inert construction for aqueous and chemically aggressive media. PicoPlus 5500 systems are compatible with acid, base and organic solvent liquid imaging.
Which probes should I use in liquid?
We stock liquid tapping Si3N4 cantilevers and MAC Mode paramagnetic MAC Levers for soft samples such as DNA and proteins in aqueous media. Ask us to include probes in your quote.
