Why OEMs bring their mold work to Evok
Tooling built around part cost
We design the lowest cost tool that still hits your performance and cosmetic needs, while cutting cycle time.
Problems found before steel is cut
Mold flow analysis, tolerance stack analysis and DFM review catch sink, flash, gate and vent issues early.
Open costs, no surprises
We itemize the cost structure of your part so you can help shape the design and the price.
One partner start to finish
Part design, prototypes, mold design, trials, first article and high volume production all in one pipeline.
25 years of molding know-how
Founder Paul Dathe holds four US utility patents and is a Six Sigma black belt.
US-based engineering team
Our engineers work from the Twin Cities, Minnesota area and serve customers nationwide.
What goes into your mold design
We start with your 3D file or model the part from scratch in SOLIDWORKS. We red-line the changes that improve moldability, then finalize the print and part number so the tool can be cut with confidence.
From there we design the mold, run trials, evaluate T1 samples and qualify the parts. You see the data at every step, so you know what the tool will produce before production starts.
- Part file review and design for manufacturability changes
- Wall thickness, gate sizing, vent sizing and location
- Modifications to minimize sink and flash
- Mold flow analysis and tolerance stack analysis
- 2D and 3D mold drawings for your approval
- Single cavity prototype tooling for testing and validation
- Molding trial reports with T1 sample evaluation
- First article inspection: 30 points per cavity on critical dimensions, 5 on non-critical
- Material and texture selection guidance
- CAD and part design engineering at $110 per hour

What happens after you send your details
1. Share your part
Send your 3D file, drawings or a description of the part and the volumes you expect.
2. Design and moldability review
Our engineers review moldability, material, texture and tolerances, then outline the tooling plan.
3. Quote and build
You get an itemized tool and per-part cost. Approve it and we move into mold build, trials and qualification.
Frequently asked questions
How is mold and tooling pricing set?
Tool cost depends on your part size, geometry, cavitation, material and volume. We itemize the cost structure and give per-part pricing so you can see exactly what drives the number. Send your part details for a quote.
Can you work from my existing 3D file?
Yes. We start with your own 3D file or model from scratch. We review the file, red-line changes that help moldability, and document why each change matters. SOLIDWORKS is preferred. Engineering and part design is $110 per hour.
Can I test the part before buying a production tool?
Yes. We offer rapid prototypes at $100 to $500 per prototype for cosmetic or functional checks, plus single cavity prototype tooling to produce test parts before production tooling.
How do you prove the tool makes good parts?
We run molding trials and evaluate T1 samples, which show about 90% of how the part will mold. Then first article inspection covers 30 points per cavity on critical dimensions and 5 on non-critical, with Cp and Cpk data on process variation.
Do you serve companies outside Minnesota?
Yes. We work with customers across the United States. Our engineering team is based in the Twin Cities, Minnesota area.
Which industries do you build tooling for?
We work with OEMs in powersports, medical device, semiconductor and flat panel, consumer products, packaging, and marine and watercraft.
