Chiller & Heat Exchanger Corrosion

Galvanic Corrosion Repair for Chillers and Water Boxes

We stop pitting, crevice and galvanic damage with metal reconstruction and a 100% solids, non-conductive epoxy system. On-site across New England and New York.

  • Rebuild lost metal, then seal with 100% solids epoxy
  • Non-conductive layer blocks the electrolytic pathway
  • Far less cost than replacing the chiller

Over 40 years of management-team experience. Free estimate after on-site inspection.

Why coating-based repair beats replacement

Stops the corrosion cycle

A non-conductive 100% solids coating removes the electrolytic path between dissimilar metals, so galvanic attack cannot keep spreading.

Metal is rebuilt first

Severely corroded tube sheet and water box areas are reconstructed to restore thickness before any coating goes on.

Stronger tube joints

The coating reinforces tube-to-tube-sheet joints, increasing push-out strength by over 1,000 pounds in some cases.

Minimal downtime

Quick-cure technology keeps the outage window short, so the chiller goes back into service sooner.

Lower cost than a new chiller

Restoration is a cost-effective alternative to chiller, heat exchanger or cooling tower replacement.

Emergency response available

If corrosion or a leak is found mid-season, we can mobilize for emergency chiller corrosion repair.

What galvanic corrosion repair includes

Galvanic, pitting and crevice corrosion in chiller water-side service comes from dissolved oxygen, electrolytic activity between dissimilar metals, scale chemistry and biofilm. Once it starts, it speeds up. Once leaks develop, you risk refrigerant-water cross-contamination, full tube bundle replacement or chiller retirement.

Our crews assess the damage, rebuild the metal that is gone, and then apply a 100% solids protective coating system. The result is a sealed, non-conductive surface that resists further pitting, crevice and galvanic damage in constant immersion service.

  • Corrosion assessment with pit depth measurement and crevice corrosion mapping
  • Tube-to-tube-sheet joint integrity inspection
  • Deep cleaning to remove scale, biofilm and corrosion deposits
  • Contained abrasive blasting to a white metal finish (SSPC-SP 5 / NACE No. 1)
  • Reconstruction of corroded areas to restore tube sheet and water box thickness
  • 100% solids, zero-VOC, non-conductive epoxy applied to all in-scope surfaces
  • Scope can cover tube sheets, tube ends, water boxes and end bells in one mobilization
  • Also available for heat exchangers, condensers, evaporators and cooling tower basins

What galvanic corrosion repair includes

How the repair gets scoped

  1. Send us your findings

Fill in the form with the equipment type and what your inspection showed. A member of our team follows up.

  2. Free on-site inspection

We look at pit depth, crevice corrosion, joint integrity and access, then define the repair scope.

  3. Written project estimate

You get project-based pricing and a plan to mobilize during a planned outage or as an emergency repair.

Frequently asked questions

How much does galvanic corrosion repair cost?

Pricing is project-based. It depends on chiller size, tube sheet condition, how much corrosion repair is needed, water box scope and access. We give a free estimate after an on-site inspection.

Can coating fix a tube sheet that has lost metal?

Coating alone cannot save a tube sheet that has lost structural metal. We reconstruct the severely corroded areas first to restore thickness and joint strength, then apply the coating system.

Will this stop the corrosion from coming back?

The 100% solids coating adds a non-conductive barrier that eliminates the electrolytic pathway between dissimilar metals and resists pitting, crevice and galvanic attack, plus long-term immersion and a range of chemicals.

Do you replace tubes or the chiller?

No. We are a coatings and surface restoration contractor. We do not sell or replace chillers, retube bundles, or perform mechanical or refrigerant service. Our work is coating-based restoration.

Where do you work?

On-site across New England (MA, NH, CT, RI, ME, VT) and New York, including Boston metro, NYC and the five boroughs, Long Island and Westchester. Our office is in Franklin, NH.

How much downtime does it take?

Work is scheduled during planned chiller downtime, often in the fall or spring shoulder season. Quick-cure technology is used to keep downtime to a minimum. Emergency response is available.
